Welcome to the Thorn Hill Education Center. Being chosen as the Executive Director of Thorn Hill Education Center is truly an honor. The establishment of Thorn Hill by Lillian Nunnelly is a remarkable story of perseverance and dedication to the betterment of Franklin and Frankfort citizens Ms. Nunnelly’s tenure as director was from 1984-2000. Her strength and determination regarding services for adult learners was second to none. Additional directors have maintained her vision for Thorn Hill and have been extremely impactful.
Thorn Hill has grown by leaps and bounds and now is “top of the hill” in Frankfort. The building is currently in its 85th year of existence but is still clearly like the original. Our goal is to continue honoring the Thorn Hill tradition and keep the building as close to the original as possible.
We continue to expand services to better the community, some of which include: Family Learning Community, family literacy, corrections education, the community garden, home to the Wanda Joyce Robinson Foundation, home of the Blue Grass Theatre Guild, weekly meetings, English as a second language classes, food shares, room and gym rentals, YMCA, church programs, Spellapalooza, Friendsgiving to name a few.
We welcome you to Thorn Hill and we strive to create a positive and uplifting environment for all to enjoy. Thorn Hill will always be a place for individuals to feel welcomed and heard.
