NOVEMBER 13TH – Free childcare and dinner!
Healthy Treats for the Holidays & KYVL
Who: PARENTS AND CAREGIVERS, Kids can come do activities in the gym while parents meet with us.
Where: Thorn Hill Education Center
When: November 13, 5:30-7PM
What: This will be a great class for parents and caregivers to learn cooking tips, ideas, and tricks to make our holiday meals a little healthier. We will have childcare available for all kids and fun time in the gym for older kids. The kids will have a fun activity to do in our childcare program during this time. We will also introduce our new app for tracking your activities at this time, so please come if you can.
Paul Sawyier Public Library will be providing information on the Kentucky Virtual Library (KYVL) and signing parents up for library cards if they need one.
November 11, 2024- Edible Engineering- 4:30-5:30PM, Paul Sawyier Public Library. Use a variety of foods to build some incredible creations. This program is for kids in grades K-2. No registration required.
November 11, 2024- Cornucopia Centerpieces- 6:30-7:30pm, Paul Sawyier Public Library- Create a cornucopia of color for your holiday table. Families with kids of all ages are welcome. No registration required.
November 12, Just Say Yes Showcase- 6:30-8PM, Grand Theatre- A Musical Celebration of Community, Recreation & Prevention, Join us at The Grand Theatre for an unforgettable evening of music and movement with performances by award-winning Kentucky musicians alongside local student performers. This is a free event with a suggested donation of $25 per ticket to support the Yes Card Program. All tickets are general admission, with first come first serve seating at The Grand.

November 12, 2024- Beyond the Plate- Family Cooking Class- 4:30-5:30PM, Paul Sawyier Public Library- Join us for a fun night of cooking using the Library’s mobile kitchen! Learn kitchen skills, how to follow a recipe, and more during this hands-on workshop. We will be making and tasting homemade pizza. This session of Beyond the Plate is for families with kids of all ages. No registration required.

November 13, 2024- Yoga for Beginners, 6-7PM at Paul Sawyier Public Library- Certified yoga instructor Grace Rogers will lead participants in breathing exercises, simple physical postures with some flowing in between, and relaxation. November 13, 2024- 4-H Jr Cooking Club- Franklin County Cooperative Extension Office 5-7PM. The 4-H Jr. Cooking Club is open to youth in 3rd to 6th grade. If you want to learn to cook and try new recipes, the Cooking Club is the group for you! The program is designed to teach youth cooking skills such as techniques, utensil use, and basic culinary skills. Contact Austin Brewer at abrewer8@uky.edu for more info and to register.
November 14, 2024- Elementary Homeschool Club- Capital City Museum 2:30PM-Homeschool families with children in grades K-5 can come join the library staff for a Frankfort History adventure through the Capital City Museum. (PACT TIME)

Join Kamla Martin and Rowena Duff of Freedom Equity Group for an interactive financial planning workshop. Topics will include the essentials of estate planning, tax-free and risk-free retirement, asset protection and preservation, and boosting your financial capability. November 20, 2024– Create your Own Spice Mix– Paul Sawyier Public Library 4:30PM. Follow a recipe or make your own spice blend, test it out on some fresh french fries, and create a Thanksgiving recipe book. This class is geared toward kids in grades 3-5. (PACT TIME)
November 21, 2024- Kentucky Book Group and Nonfiction Discussion Group– Paul Sawyier Public Library- 6:30-7:30PM. Join PSPL staff for a joint meeting of the Kentucky Book Group and Nonfiction Discussion Group, where they will discuss Lexington by Kim Wickens. November 23, 2024- Children’s Holiday Store 9am-12pm, Extension Office
If you would like your child(ren) to be able to shop for the holidays but you are on a budget, consider the Children’s Holiday Store. The Franklin County Cooperative Extension Office hosts this fun event November 23, 2024, and the homemade items made by Franklin County Homemakers cost from $0.25 to $5. Santa will be there to meet with each child before they go shopping with an “elf.” There will also be kids activities, such as coloring pages and a movie. (PACT TIME)
